The easiest way to throw an HOA or neighborhood holiday block party in Palm Beach County is to keep the games and the bounce house on grass (a front lawn, the clubhouse lawn or a common area) and use the closed street only for tables, food and walking. In West Palm Beach, for example, a $53 block party permit closes one street, but bounce houses, rides and tents on the road need a separate Special Event Permit. Below: the paperwork, a simple layout, a 3-hour plan, and games that work for every age.
Step 1: Street, common area or front yards?
Where you hold the party decides who you ask:
- HOA common area or clubhouse lawn. Ask the board or the property manager. Read your HOA's rules for the common areas (hours, noise, guest limits) and ask if they need the vendor's insurance certificate. We can email ours.
- Front yards along one street. Each homeowner says yes for their own yard. This is the simplest setup: no road closure, and the bounce house sits on a lawn.
- The street itself. A public street needs a permit from your city (or from Palm Beach County if you live in an unincorporated area). A private HOA road is the association's call.
Step 2: The city permit (West Palm Beach example)
The City of West Palm Beach's Right-of-Way Block Party Application (posted on wpb.org) spells out a typical setup:
- $53 permit fee, invoiced by email once the City approves it. It covers one street only, and you can't close a state or county road intersection.
- Allow 10 business days for processing, and send a site map that shows everything you'll set up and when.
- Barricades come from the City's Parks and Recreation Department, with a refundable deposit of $100–$500 depending on how many you need.
- Tell the neighbors. Notify every property owner next to the closed area at least 7 days before the party.
- Not on the road: bounce houses, amusement rides, tents, alcohol or glass. A DJ with a sound system, tents or a bounce house on the roadway sends you to Community Events for a Special Event Permit instead.
- Clean up fast. The street must be back to normal within 2 hours after the party ends.
Other cities in Palm Beach County have their own forms and fees, so call your city's parks or special events office before you set a date. If you live in West Palm Beach, our West Palm Beach bounce house rentals page has more local tips.
Step 3: A layout that keeps everyone happy
- Lawn zone (games and bounce house). Put inflatables on flat grass, away from the curb. Our Player One bounce house needs about 19 x 26 ft. Check your space with our yard-size guide.
- Street or driveway zone (food and seating). Tables, chairs and the snack station go here. We rent tables (from $18), white folding chairs (from $5) and a 10 x 10 tent (from $99) for a yard or common area.
- Power. Bounce houses and snack machines need an outlet within reach or our generator (from $175). Ask a neighbor with an outdoor outlet before you plan the map.
- A kids' corner and a grown-ups' corner. Little kids play near the bounce house; teens and adults gather at the game tables.
Games that work for every age
A block party has toddlers, teens and grandparents at the same time. Mix games so everyone has a turn. Every game below belongs to Crazy Games FL:
Or take a Holiday Pack
For 25–50 guests, the Holiday Party Pack is $1,300: Player One bounce house, Reindeer Hop Race, Giant Ornament & Spoon Race, plus popcorn and cotton candy (50 servings each) for 3 hours. For 50–100 guests, the Crazy Holiday Fest is $1,500: Snowball Fight, Candy Cane Run, Milk & Cookie Toss, popcorn and cotton candy (50 each), a Game Master to run it, and a 1-hour visit from our Christmas Elf. Terms: events Nov. 1–Dec. 31, 2026, book by Dec. 23; one holiday pack per day (we own one of each game), first come, first served; $350 minimum; generator $175 if there's no outlet; not combined with other offers. Say "Holiday Pack" when you call. See both on our holiday party games page, or read Holiday Party Pack or build your own.
A simple 3-hour block party plan
- 3:00 PM: Games open on the lawn. Little kids start in the bounce house.
- 3:45 PM: Street team races. Each street or cul-de-sac is a team.
- 4:30 PM: Popcorn, cotton candy and a potluck at the tables.
- 5:15 PM: Prizes for the race winners, then a group photo before sunset (around 5:30 PM in December).
- 6:00 PM: Games end and our crew packs up, so the street is clear well inside the 2-hour clean-up window.
Pick a Saturday that isn't a school night. In 2026, Palm Beach County schools are off for Thanksgiving week (Nov. 23–27) and winter break starts Dec. 21, so Dec. 5, 12 and 19 are popular dates. Hanukkah runs Dec. 4–12, so a "holiday" theme welcomes everyone.
Frequently asked questions
Can we put a bounce house in the street for a block party?
Usually not under a simple block party permit. West Palm Beach's permit doesn't allow bounce houses, rides or tents on the roadway; those need a Special Event Permit. Put the bounce house on a lawn or common area instead.
How much does a West Palm Beach block party permit cost?
The City's application lists a $53 permit fee for one street, plus a refundable deposit for barricades ($100–$500). Allow 10 business days for processing.
Does our HOA need your insurance certificate?
Many associations ask for one before a vendor sets up on a common area. Tell us when you book and we'll email our certificate of insurance.
Do you deliver to my neighborhood?
We serve Palm Beach, Martin, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Delivery, setup and pickup are free within 15 miles of West Palm Beach; farther out, a delivery fee applies and shows before you pay. See all areas we serve.
